| 1979 Kawasaki KDX400: Frame sandblasted and primed, painted with all nuts/bolts cleaned and or replaced. NOS piston/rings and wrist pin/bearing and clips. Finding all of that was chore. New tires, New Mukini from SUDCO matched to the bike. New Seat Cover, cables and all New DC plastics (Fenders, sides and light). Tank is in excellent condition except for the paint has started to bubble even using a PPG plastic conditioner. All new correct decals. The front light assembly is not on the bike and is about 75% complete. This assembly is hard to come by. $1400. This bike runs perfectly and is a joy to ride. The swing arm has been lengthened 3" and a very large rear sprocket. Tried to pre-prep the plastic tank that is in excellent condition and paint only to have the tank expand and contract leaving some bubbles. Carb rebuilt, NOS clutch and brake levers. Yamaha made this 1 ½ hour movie back in 1970. While nowhere near the quality of On Any Sunday, it has a whole bunch of great footage from the ‘60s up to 1970. Most of the movie covers off roading, but there is chunk of road racing and flat tracking. The best stuff is the old desert and scrambles/motocross racing. Excellent! I believe this makes it an '80 but not certain, looking online it appears that Suzuki changed the style of serial numbers in that year.
Also does anyone know what would be different between a '79 and '80 crankshaft? I while back I sourced a good used crank for this bike and now realize the two years have a different part# and I assumed they would be the same.
